WBDRP: Do you really think that, after these events, any one would admit if they ever hang out with friends, watch a ball game, and have a drink? Come on! I suspect it happens much more than our denomination would like to admit. It’s just like the faithful who bring their caseroles to potluck and then go home and have a cup of coffee with desert or have a real hamburger with dinner when noone is watching. PLEASE!!!
I have been to many SDA homes, both of “members” and SDA institutional workers, including a few “higher up” officials. I have never seen anyone drinking alcohol, offering alcohol, or even having some bottles of alcohol on their tables, counters, in the fridge, etc.
How about others. Certainly there are dozens or hundred out there who have done the same. Have any others experienced this?
Are SDA’s a bunch of “closet” drinkers?

BTW, If you’re a beer or ale drinker, the best are the “darker” and more “robust” varieties, as these have more antioxidants and phytochemical.
Or, you could just eat some oatmeal, barley, or similar whole grain!

BTW, over on Spectrum, they are “debating” the “medicinal properties” of wine. The beneficial properties of “red wine” or similar alcoholic products comes from the antioxidants and other phytonutrients in the grape, mainly the grape skin.
So, if you’re contemplating booze as a “healthful” drink, simply drink grape juice (red, purple, and black are best) or simply eat the real grapes!

This is the typical garbage that has been coming out of PUC for many years. People wonder why our colleges are losing students, despite the fact that we take more and more non-SDAs each year.

The reason the LaSierra situation has gone uncorrected so long is that most of our administrators have exactly the sort of political instincts that Dan Jackson has. They are politicians and consensus builders; they want to keep the peace and make the trains run on time. But the circumstances call for men of principle, hard men who are willing to stand for the right “though the heavens fall,†i.e., regardless who is offended and loudly complains.
Dave, I agree with you. Jackson’s trying to play on “both teams” is not going to go well for him.
Unfortunately, politics is the “SOP” of many of our SDA officials, Jackson being just one. “Political instincts” are the rule, instead of actually doing what is “right” according to what we know in God’s Word.

I’ve read what the process is in the faculty handbook, but I don’t know if that applies to administrative positions which are at will employees. If it does apply to them, then it appears the process was not followed.
Trustees book says, in 6,9,F, that the Trustes may “discontinue” virtually anyone working at the university.
Does that mean to “fire” or to “force their resignation? Seems like it does.
