@Holly Pham:

Thanks for the update, Holly… It does sadden me to hear of these developments. I agree fully with the letter that Pastor Asscherick wrote a couple of years ago, as well as Elder Wilson’s speech. Hopefully it’s not to late to right this sinking ship of an institution.

Former board member never talked with biology faculty
@Holly Pham:

Holly,

I graduated in 1987, and again in 1989… I had friends who were pre-med, but never heard about the issues going in the Biology dept. Maybe because I took an entirely different discipline, but I never remember issues regarding origins of the world etc. ever coming up.

As a graduate of (then) Loma Linda University – La Sierra, I cannot even believe we are all having this discussion over Bible truth. Honestly, it breaks my heart every time I come to this website, to read about the goings-on at my alma mater. I just cannot believe we have come to this point in our history as Adventists.

A New Endowment Program for Adventist Education
Does anyone know the status of future plans for Atlantic Union College? I find it incredibly sad that the oldest Adventist educational institution in the world has closed its doors. I have heard that a School of Evangelism may be starting at Founder’s Hall (EGW gave money to build this historic building), but so far no word on the future for AUC since the merger with WAU fell thru.

La Sierra University Responds to anti-Creation Bond Issue
Holly, I don’t know if you had a chance to hear Kameron DeVasher speak or not (he was at the last GYC…. www.audioverse.com).

He’s another one of the young pastors that seems to be really on the mark in terms of Bible truth. Jeffrey Rosario, also…

Lots from Down Under, also. Paul Godfrey is excellent (www.markwoodman.org).

And of course, Dr. Sean Pitman. I really enjoyed his presentations from Audioverse.

I made a recent comment on the Spectrum website blog, about David Asscherick and how I think someone like him would be great for the Voice of Prophecy. Of course, the comments that came back about him were quite derrogatory… think there’s any coincidence that Pastor Asscherick is one of the most vocal critics of SDA neo-Darwinism?

One commentator said that his sermons made them want to run “quickly to the nearest Starbucks for a strong fortifying cup of java.”

Obviously, they’ve never heard Pastor Asscherick’s sermon on health! But sounds like the commentator might be another SoCal “in name only SDA” like Brother Taylor.

Michigan Conference vs. LSU – Right Wing Politics or Truth in Advertising?
@Ervin Taylor:

For the record (and for those joining this late), here’s my questions again, and Dr. Taylors’ answers:

1) Do you believe we are living in the last days of earth’s history? “NO”

Do you believe the Bible, when it speaks of “your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions” as it says in Joel 2:28? “NOT SURE”

Lastly, do you believe that God gave EGW the Spirit of Prophecy? “NO”

Good to know where one is coming from…

@Holly Pham:

Absolutely, Holly. I don’t doubt Dr. Taylors’ sincerity, but it does give me pause when someone answers that they are “not sure” if they believe the Bible or not.

I have always appreciated your comments on this website very much. And for that matter, Dr. Taylors’ comments, also, as he continues to make the contrast between SDAs and “in name only ‘SDAs'” all the more clear.

Don’t worry, Erv… if God can open my eyes to His truth (which I believe He has), He can also show you the truth someday (if you’re willing to listen).

I’ll be praying for you.
