Consider the following article from NBC News discussing a recent paper that showed how eating red meat, and even full-fat dairy and eggs, significantly raises the risk for heart disease, damages kidney function, and increases the risk for colon and other cancers (Link). Charlotte Pratt of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, which helped fund the work concluded:
“This means eating a variety of foods, including more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low-fat dairy foods, and plant-based protein sources such as beans and peas.”
Now, where have I heard that advice before? Hmmmm….
