Comment on NAD President, Education Director Dialog with La Sierra Campus Community by Ron Stone M.D..
This is the first time, that I know of, that an LSU person has leaked something. At this point I can only assume this person or persons thought it would potentially beneficial to LSU’s to leak these recordings.
If anything has changed at LSU, it’s the biology department ducking for cover and waiting for things to blow over, as Bradley so nicely put it. I’d be surprised if the way the curriculum is being taught has changed.
If LSU faculty see some wiggle room out of this, they’ll take it. You don’t have a track record of hiding what has been taught and then all of a sudden have an ah-ha moment and completely change status quo. The only reason we’re seeing anything happening at LSU is because what they have been doing has seen the light of day.
I believe you’re right, Shane. I don’t see anything actually being done–just more talk and avoidance of any action!

Odessa: …â€as if it was trueâ€â€¦so what does that mean? Did he actually say it was a fact? And do we have anything to go by other than what is being claimed? Is there any evidence to back up said claims? How are we to know that statements haven’t been taken out of context, or misinterpreted?
Odessa, You need to do some “homework” and read what already has been published online here and other places to come “up to speed” on what’s going on.
Once you do, come back and start making some statements that actually address what’s going on here in the real world.
NAD President, Education Director Dialog with La Sierra Campus Community
@ Kent, We gotta get a new “survey” Prof. That’s how LSU decides who is teaching what–not a few “cherry-picked” comments.
Professor Kent: Shane, I’m not disputing your experience and that some disrespectful treatment was doled out in years past. What I am trying to say is that things have now changed, and I wish you folks would welcome that news rather than continue to deny it and maintain the ad hominen attacks not just on the biology faculty but on virtually all levels of Church administration. Can you please use your influence to stop the completely unnecessary accusations made by certain individuals here who feel they can make such statements without any foundation in fact?
So, Prof, where is your “foundation in fact?” Oh, I forgot–you heard someone who told somone else, that had heard from an “unimpeachable” source that “things have changed.”

The reason the LaSierra situation has gone uncorrected so long is that most of our administrators have exactly the sort of political instincts that Dan Jackson has. They are politicians and consensus builders; they want to keep the peace and make the trains run on time. But the circumstances call for men of principle, hard men who are willing to stand for the right “though the heavens fall,†i.e., regardless who is offended and loudly complains.
Dave, I agree with you. Jackson’s trying to play on “both teams” is not going to go well for him.
Unfortunately, politics is the “SOP” of many of our SDA officials, Jackson being just one. “Political instincts” are the rule, instead of actually doing what is “right” according to what we know in God’s Word.
Shane Hilde: Think big fish: LSU or the Seventh-day Adventist Church.Graham might not have followed procedure with these men, but I don’t know what the procedure is. I’ve read what the process is in the faculty handbook, but I don’t know if that applies to administrative positions which are at will employees. If it does apply to them, then it appears the process was not followed.
Trustees book says, in 6,9,F, that the Trustes may “discontinue” virtually anyone working at the university.
Does that mean to “fire” or to “force their resignation? Seems like it does.
GMF: If what has been reported about Jackson is correct it is very troubling. Also, one can only wonder why he was selected as the NAD President.I’ve seen a thing or two which made me wonder about Jackson but this report, if true, has to be the worst. May the Good Lord help us!
Jackson was selected to replace Don Schneider, who was also very “passive” in his approach to this problem.
Besides telling Wisbey to “love Jesus” Jackson did virtually nothing.

Sean, Great summary and analysis of the current situation. Another good review of this matter is in the Jan-March 2011 Elders Journal. It also goes into the 2004 evaluation and recommendations, as you have quoted.

How about a “class action” suit against anyone and everyone who has heard the tape or has heard OF the tape?
