Erv, from your post, I get the impression that you think that we are going to be here for a few millennia or more. So it would be a great idea to archive these websites so that SDA’s two thousand years from now can read history. Maybe that will be long enough for SDA conservatives to evolve into evolution-believing SDA progressives.

Personally I see Bible prophecy and EGW predictions being fulfilled right before our eyes. I think our Lord is coming very, very soon! Maranatha.

My Goal for La Sierra University
I have a question for those of you that have been following this longer than me. The statement has been made,

“When you study biology at La Sierra University, you:

– Will study with professors who all deeply believe in God as the Creator of everything.

– Will be introduced to Seventh-day Adventist understandings of Creation, centered in the Genesis account, which reveals the Creator as a personal and loving God.

– Will be introduced to theories of evolutionary process, focusing on speciation and adaptation, with which students are expected to be conversant as they prepare for success in graduate school and career [just as they are at other SDA universities].

…

– Will use the same textbook in General Biology that is used by Adventist colleges and universities in North America and is used by most biology classes in the nation.

– Will study with professors who will help you navigate issues of faith and science, in and out of the classroom, so that your faith in God is strengthened.

IF THIS ISN’T EVIDENCE, THEN WHAT IS? La Sierra has announced it to the world in as plain and clear language as you can possibly get.”

I am assuming that these are from La Sierra’s website. Are these new, or did they exist from the time before Educate Truth started? If they are new, then they do represent an improvement in La Sierra’s attempt to show what it is doing. Of course that is only valuable if LSU is following this and teaching it in the classroom. If these statements existed before the controversy, at a time when LSU was speaking out of both sides of its mouth. One public statement on the website and anti-SDA teaching to students in the classroom, then they need to go further now to show that what they are teaching in the classroom is loyal to the church. When this type of behavior has occurred, it is incumbent on LSU to go out of their way to be transparent. Trust but verify.

My Goal for La Sierra University
Amen Faith! God is good, all if the time. He will not be mocked. He us the Creator and knows what is best for us. Our job is submission and obedience. Not a legalistic attempt at obedience, but a submission to His will that is best for us. We have a choice, obedience to Him, or rebellion with Satan. There is no middle ground. The clock is ticking; it is time to decide. Which side will we be on, the genuine or the counterfeit.

My Goal for La Sierra University
David, you point out exactly what is happening in the church today.

“There really are now two Adventist Churches, the traditional, believing Adventist Church and the liberal church-within-a-church. The reason there is so much support for LaSierra is that, in the part of the country where LaSierra is located, the liberal church-within-a-church predonderates numerically. They think they are entitled to their own college that reflects their own (non)beliefs, they have it in LaSierra, and they are enraged that it might, at this late date, be wrested away from them. Based upon Dan Jackson’s words and tone to the LaSierra faculty when he did not know he was being recorded, I think the liberal church-within-a-church has little reason to worry.”

Unfortunately there can be only one truly genuine SDA church. The other is a counterfeit. The genuine believes that the Holy Bible provides our road map for faith, the counterfeit says that the Holy Bible needs to be reinterpreted and science holds the answers. The genuine SDA Church believes that Jesus established this movement at the end of the 2300 day/year prophecy to warn this world of coming judgement, and of a loving Savior who is ministering in the Heavenly Sanctuary made by God. The counterfeit denies the existence of a heavenly sanctuary, a significance for 1844, and a special purpose of warning the world of coming judgement. The genuine also believes that God’s plan and structure for the family and marriage is eternal and as old as the world itself, and is unchangable, The counterfeit believes it is not and that the church is bigoted.

The counterfeit believes that our beliefs are smorgasbord, pick and choose what you like, and discard the rest. The genuine believes our beliefs are a beautiful system of truth that are joined together as a golden thread that runs through the Bible, both from the old and new testaments, presenting the truth about God and His character.

It is clear to me and many others that the shaking spoken of by our messenger EGW is fully underway. The fuzzy middle is disappearing. The two sides are falling into line. On one side is the genuine, and on the other side is the counterfeit. By their fruit you will know them.

Holly, that is why the Bible days that the wheat and the rates grow together until the harvest. God separates them. Many of the half-hearted church members will run when the times get tough because they do not have a love of the truth. It will be uncomfortable to be connected to a church that follows God’s true Bible beliefs when the wicked world says do the opposite. The times sure are exciting!

Wayne A. Martin:
I wonder what would have happened if the chairman of the board had quietly called each of the three men involved in this situation into his office, and tallked with them one by one, about their problems, with a redemptive prospective.Would they have seen their error, repented of their misdeeds, and avoided all this bad publicity? These men might still be loyal workers for the university.ASking them to resign immediately put them on the defensive. What we need is not only regulations to protect our worker’s rights, but our leaders, as well as pastors need training in how to meet situations, both in the church and among employees. We need to try to keep our workers in the straight and narrow way, and not look for an excuse to get rid of them.Often we can salvage workers and help them to become productive.
In this case some workers might have been salvaged and a lot of bad publicity avoided.

Wayne, these men are not just employees that were just a little off base who needed a minor course correction. LSU has arrived at the point where they are after DECADES of apostasy. There has been a concerted effort to take LSU to this place. The problem does not just include the biology department, but also includes the religion department and includes more of our fundamental belief on creation. The average church member who has not been around the Southern and Southeastern California Conferences/La Sierra University doesn’t not realize that we are at the brink of a HUGE problem in the church. The two sides cannot coexist any longer and neither side is going to acquiesce to the other.

Holly, I believe Erv is an Emeritus Professor of Anthropology from UCR (University of California-Riverside), I don’t think he is a paid employee of the church, either currently, or in the past. He is a thought leader among the liberal “SDA’s” who want to trash our FB’s. He seems to have a total hate for historic, “traditional” SDA beliefs. His whole push is to advance liberal thought and doctrine wherever possible. He is constantly at war with us “fundamentalists.” What a sad situation to be in. He seems to have some huge hang-up.

Holly, whether anyone has infiltrated our church, I don’t know. I am not a conspiracy theory kind of person. I am not privy to see behind the scenes as God would. All I can says is that we are God’s remnant church, we have Bible-based beliefs, and the likes of professors at LSU in the biology and religion departments, Erv Taylor, Jared Wright, the lib Spectrum crowd, and many others that claim that they are SDA when they are actively against everything SDA and are our greatest opponents. Their actions here and now are enough to convince me what EGW said that former SDA’s will be our worst enemies.

Yes Frank, you have hit the nail squarely on the head. Now does the church administration have the fortitude to get rid of the apostates and replace them with loyal faculty. Sister White saw it and predicted it as you can see in the following quotes. It is as if she was here today watching all of this. ELDERS GRAHAM AND WILSON, PLEASE FINISH THE WORK AND CLEAN UP THIS MESS.

“The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced. The founders of this system would go into the cities, and do a wonderful work. The Sabbath of course, would be lightly regarded, as also the God who created it. Nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. The leaders would teach that virtue is better than vice, but God being removed, they would place their dependence on human power, which, without God, is worthless. Their foundation would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure. Who has authority to begin such a movement? We have our Bibles. We have our experience, attested to by the miraculous working of the Holy Spirit. We have a truth that admits of no compromise. Shall we not repudiate everything that is not in harmony with this truth?” Ellen G. White, Selected Messages, vol. 1, pages 204, 205.

“The days are fast approaching when there will be great perplexity and confusion. Satan, clothed in angel robes, will deceive, if possible, the very elect. There will be gods many and lords many. Every wind of doctrine will be blowing. Those who have rendered supreme homage to “science falsely so called” will not be the leaders then. Those who have trusted to intellect, genius, or talent will not then stand at the head of rank and file. They did not keep pace with the light. Those who have proved themselves unfaithful will not then be entrusted with the flock. In the last solemn work few great men will be engaged. They are self-sufficient, independent of God, and He cannot use them. The Lord has faithful servants, who in the shaking, testing time will be disclosed to view. There are precious ones now hidden who have not bowed the knee to Baal. They have not had the light which has been shining in a concentrated blaze upon you. But it may be under a rough and uninviting exterior the pure brightness of a genuine Christian character will be revealed. In the day time we look toward heaven but do not see the stars. They are there, fixed in the firmament, but the eye cannot distinguish them. In the night we behold their genuine luster.”
