Bill Sorensen: People leave “the church†when the church presents the true cross of scripture. And people don’t want to “bear the cross†and find a reason not to.Unbelievers receive massive doses of affirmation by other unbelievers who affirm a crossless religion that they claim is supported by the bible. You’re right on target again Bill! Sean’s lengthy post about Ken Ham’s book points out that most “reasons” involve some else’s “fault” or problem–“too boring” “legalism” “self-righteous” “hypocrisy” “too political” etc. Even the “too far to drive” is a total copout.
No one (or at least very few) seemingly stated, “Boy, I just thought it was going to be too tough to live a Christian life!” Instead, they use the loaded word “legalism” both blaming someone else and, in the process, avoiding having to state the reason in a personal way, taking responsibility for their choice.

J. Knight. I agree with you. However, I think you will find it difficult to “pin down” where sin happened with any evolutionist, SDA or not.
Most non-SDA’s simply will say “sin” is a manmade concept which has nothing to to with “God.”
The SDA’s? Well, how about some, or even one, coming on here to explain how “sin” got here.

Shane Hilde: Agreed. Evolution has little to do with becoming a doctor, or pretty much any discipline that would utilize biology. Unless of course your dealing with a history oriented class dealing with origins.
Evolution has absolutely nothing to do with becoming a physician or practicing medicine. I’ve never,ever been asked any question about evolution in any exam, either in medical school, during residency, or on the Internal Medicine Board exam.
How about you Sean? Is Pathology based on evolution?

This is the typical garbage that has been coming out of PUC for many years. People wonder why our colleges are losing students, despite the fact that we take more and more non-SDAs each year.

The reason the LaSierra situation has gone uncorrected so long is that most of our administrators have exactly the sort of political instincts that Dan Jackson has. They are politicians and consensus builders; they want to keep the peace and make the trains run on time. But the circumstances call for men of principle, hard men who are willing to stand for the right “though the heavens fall,†i.e., regardless who is offended and loudly complains.
Dave, I agree with you. Jackson’s trying to play on “both teams” is not going to go well for him.
Unfortunately, politics is the “SOP” of many of our SDA officials, Jackson being just one. “Political instincts” are the rule, instead of actually doing what is “right” according to what we know in God’s Word.

Shane Hilde: Think big fish: LSU or the Seventh-day Adventist Church.Graham might not have followed procedure with these men, but I don’t know what the procedure is. I’ve read what the process is in the faculty handbook, but I don’t know if that applies to administrative positions which are at will employees. If it does apply to them, then it appears the process was not followed.
Trustees book says, in 6,9,F, that the Trustes may “discontinue” virtually anyone working at the university.
Does that mean to “fire” or to “force their resignation? Seems like it does.
