One church takes a stand for creation

This document contains old news, but since we finally have a copy we wanted to post it. There has been a lot of talk as to whether the controversy surrounding La Sierra University will make it on the GC session agenda this summer. Some think it will remain a background topic. There have been whisperings of efforts to put this issue on the agenda, but no solid news on whether or not this will happen. Hopefully the GC does not choose to ignore the promotion of evolution in our schools.

Ncc Resolutions.042010

These are agenda items for the Northern California Conference constituency meeting May 16, 2010.

  1. Might this be why the SECC leadership decided to “go after” a pastor in the NCC on the subject of ordaining women? Or is it merely a happy coincidence that the SECC offices are a few dozen yards from the LSU campus evangelizing heavily for evolutionism as the right answer for the doctrine on origins in both its biology and religion departments and that the same pastor that the SECC is lashing out at – is one of those who have dared to come out publically against LSU’s endorsement of evolutionism?

Hmmm – an interesting exercise for the reader to work out.

  2. BTW – when LSU takes legal action against one of its own students for daring to out its biology professors (as those professors teach evolutionism as the right answer for origins from inside and Adventist University) – what money is going to pay those legal fees?

Is it parent’s and student’s hard-earned tuition dollars?

Is it free will church offerings?

    Is it alumni donation dollars?

    Or is it tithe dollars?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

    in Christ,

    Bob

  3. Bob, You’re right on target, as usual! LSU and the SECC are “twins joined at the hip” as we can all see. Doug has been very open about his opposition to what is going on at LSU regarding teaching “evolution as fact.” So, who to attack but Pastor Doug?

  4. Let us join the Oroville church in earnest, continuing prayer that, if it is God’s will, the Holy Spirit will encourage the NCC in Constituency Meeting to vote a request that the General Conference will act to have Belief 6: Creation ammended in General Conference session as soon as possible, say in 2015, to reflect the beautiful amplification of Creation already voted by the General Conference Executive Committee in 2004 in the document, “A Response to an Affirmation of Creation.”

  5. “what money is going to pay those legal fees?”

What money? What legal fees? Where are your facts? The objective uninformed reader with an inquiring mind can’t help but wonder if imagination substitutes for facts in the determined desire to impugn others.

  6. Shane,
If the NNC requested the GC to address Belief 6,it would seem appropriate that the current GC leadership could either begin the ball rolling for 2015 or pass the request on to the new GC leadership selected in Atlanta this summer. Hopefully, the current GC leadersihp would appoint the needed ad hoc committee to begin working on Belief 6. The amplified Belief 6 would then be circulated around the world to every division, union, and conference for input in preparation for a vote in 2015.

  7. In response to the above RE: SECC attacking AF/Pr.Doug…the Bible doesn’t give us explicit direction in annointing women Pstrs…but let’s face it…SECC has been rebelling against the General Conference of SDA’s decision in that area for years. If I remember correctly 2 or 3 General Conf. sessions they still refrained from passing such. I believe they are retaliating…
