Comment on Creation/evolution clash at LSU by Ron Stone M.D..

@Bill Sorensen, You are absolutely correct about the apathy of most of our SDA Church members. I belong to one of the most “conservative” churches in the Pacific Union Conference. However, the vast majority of the members have no “clue” or even want to have a clue into what’s going on at LSU or anywhere else.

Those who want to infiltrate secular humanist ideas into our Church have much more enthusiam for what they are doing, even thouth they have smaller numbers, since most of the bible-believing members are simply to lazy to get involved.

This simple fact is why the “progrssives” have hope that their ideas will prevail; the opposition will simply roll over or just continue to “dialogue” (Jim Pedersen’s favorite phrase) into eternity!

Creation/evolution clash at LSU

BobRyan: Which is how the Pacific Union was able to create the multi-decade LSU experiment in the first place. To some extent PUC and SECC constituency have to step up to the point of sharing the blame. They cannot simply point to unwatched school administrators operating on behalf of an indifferent, dissinterested constituency – as if those administrators deserve all the blame for what takes place in such a context. All that is needed for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. And that still works even if apathy is the primary driver for “doing nothing”.in Christ,Bob

You’re absolutely correct. We have lots of “good” men and women sitting around doing nothing because of apathy.

However, I do not think “apathy” drives most leaders. Many, such as those at LSU actually believe what they are doing is correct. Progressives believe our SDA Church is too “backward” and “old fashioned” in its thinking and needs to get into the postmodern era. Changing the Church to fit the World is their greatest goal.

You see it at LSU, PUC, and in several of our Conferences here in California. They are a “rogue” element in our Church since the vast majority outside California do not believe their philosophy.

The greatest fear of progressives is that the SDA Church, worldwide, is becoming more “fundamental” and very few “progressives” are being recruited, relative to the conservatives.

Progressive in our SDA Church thrive where our so-called leaders do NOT lead but simply “dialogue” (Jim Pedersen’s phrase) or just ignore what is going on. The ignoring seems very prominent in the LSU Board, SECC, SCC, NCC, and the Pacific Union Conference leadership.

BTW, the fact that relatively few SDA progressive are being recruited from traditional evangelism efforts means that the greatest effort by progressives MUST be in our schools, which we see at LSU and PUC especially!

The ANN Highlights LSU’s Dr. Lee Grismer – An Evolutionary Biologist

Faith: Prof Kent:How do you figure that this site keeps biology profs with integrity out of LSU? Any professor that is following the Bible, supporting creation, and the SDA church has nothing to hide and nothing to fear. When you say “quality” applicants, just how do you judge their credentials? As far as I am concerned, it is far more important that these professors have a firm grasp on the teachings of creation and the teachings of the Bible than any credentials the world can offer. If that had been the criteria used as a guideline for hiring, we wouldn’t be in this mess now. And that goes for all our SDA institutions.

I agree, Faith. However, the type of leadership (Guy,Geraty, and Wisbey)LSU has had over the past two decades shows why we have evolutionists teaching “evolution as fact” at LSU and those supporting any type of creationism being intimidated, both students, and I would suspect faculty as well.

Does the LSU Board even care about this deterioration in our biblical beliefs. Well, their inaction, ineptitude, and apathy in finding any solutions tell me they don’t, at least the majority who control the Board.

BTW, If you’re a beer or ale drinker, the best are the “darker” and more “robust” varieties, as these have more antioxidants and phytochemical.

Or, you could just eat some oatmeal, barley, or similar whole grain!

Blasphemy of a Different Kind

Shane&#032Hilde: @Ron Stone M.D.: I agree. LSU has not been a shining light for our church. That’s unfortunate. That might be the case for other schools as well.

I have much more knowledge of PUC, and it has as many or more problems as LSU, although these have been, so far, ignored by most. PUC thrives on its “high ratings” from U.S. News and World Report, etc. But, it would get much lower ratings if someone knowledgeable from an SDA rating agency actually did a thorough investigation of the school.

[6/17/11 UPDATE] Two administrators, one biology professor, and one board member resign

Adventist&#032kid: @Ron Stone M.D.:Continue to believe that if you want. Not a scientific sample to say the least, but I just asked roughly 80 high school graduates from this year whether they chose which school they were going to or if their parents did. I didn’t even get ten who said their parents limited their choices or prevented them from going to their first choice.

I’ll continue to believe what I actually see and hear, not some biased opinion from you.

[6/17/11 UPDATE] Two administrators, one biology professor, and one board member resign

David&#032Bee: @Ron Stone M.D.: Tenured professors have a formal protective process before they can be terminated. Both resigned possible from their tenured positions as well.

Do you know this or just a guess? I certainly hope they’re gone from LSU completely!
