Sorry I am getting a little confused. Do any of the 28 fundamental beliefs, especially FB#6, require acceptance of a 6×24 hour creation? I am reading it an can’t see that it says exactly that? In any event, Adventists have long prided themselves on having no creed, being open to the notion of progressive revelation and present truth. What seems to be suggested is a credal test?
It also surprises me that a common argument used by conservatives today amounts to – ‘if you don’t like it, leave.’ However, if all our pioneers did just that, we would be an anti-Trinitarian, Arian, legalistic, pantheistic, shut-door, racially segregated (still haven’t completely fixed that one), dress-reform wearing, Turkish-hating cult.
Perhaps it is because conservatives have been so willing to leave the official church at the drop of a hat that so shocks them that progressives are generally not so willing to follow suit.

Thanks Sean, that is where I think I get really confused. There really does appear to be two type of YEC Creationists. There are those who just say, ‘forget the science, you should be believing the Bible, not that secular stuff’. Then there are those who say, ‘no science is good, because it is a form of divine revelation (i.e. lesser light) BUT science can prove the YEC hypothesis.’ It appears some YEC pick and choose which approach to take depending upon the circumstances.
If I recall, Educate Truth had a fight with the Spectrum people about this very issue. It is all very confusing really.
