Comment on La Sierra University Granted Window to Show its Faithfulness to Church’s Creation Belief by Ron Stone M.D..

D. Fender: Debbie Rockwell, I have yet to hear anyone in administration say that “or remove those unwilling to teach it?”. As far as I’m concerned, this process is SDA politics as usual until someone either PUBLICALLY recants their views that are in conflict with the church and humbly reforms, or they leave. We are bad at holding people accountable and gloss over issues and think we have done God’s will. God and many church members know the evil that is swept under the rug. We are corporately responsible for not doing good and for overlooking bad.

I predict that “recanting” and “humbly reforming” will not occur with anyone at LSU.
Why should they? No one has even asked whether that should be done or not. No pressure is being exerted by anyone to actually “reform” or change anything except some students “perceptions.”

Suppose LSU does another “survey” and the results show even a slight downturn in the number or percentage of students having a negative perception. Will we all be celebrating some type of “victory?” I certainly won’t be!

@Charles, There are indeed many so-called “Christian” pastors who have bought a ticket on the “Evolution Express.”

However, I have never seen an actual large survey of SDA ordained pastors regarding their view(s) on this subject. Would the GC, NAD, or even the Pacific Union Conference be willing to do such an analysis, in order to see how our “shepherds” view this matter?

I have done my own “local” survey, and all the pastors say they are creationists.

Charles: So we are all on the same page? “TE and scripture are mutually exclusive principles?”

I would say “yes.” However, many find it easy to “fool themselves” into the opposite view.

Professor Kent: Bob Ryan won’t do it, Sean Pitman won’t do it, David Read won’t do it, Shane Hilde won’t do it, Ron Stone won’t do it, Wesley Kime won’t do it, Ken won’t do it, Dawkins won’t do it, Provine won’t do it, Meyer won’t do it, Eddie won’t do it, and Professor Kent won’t do it.Okay. But millions of Christians do marry TE and the Bible. How sad that they succeed in such an illogical venture. Let’s pray for them.

They “succeed” by self-deception–the easiest deception in the world!

This is the typical garbage that has been coming out of PUC for many years. People wonder why our colleges are losing students, despite the fact that we take more and more non-SDAs each year.

My Goal for La Sierra University

The reason the LaSierra situation has gone uncorrected so long is that most of our administrators have exactly the sort of political instincts that Dan Jackson has. They are politicians and consensus builders; they want to keep the peace and make the trains run on time. But the circumstances call for men of principle, hard men who are willing to stand for the right “though the heavens fall,” i.e., regardless who is offended and loudly complains.

Dave, I agree with you. Jackson’s trying to play on “both teams” is not going to go well for him.

Unfortunately, politics is the “SOP” of many of our SDA officials, Jackson being just one. “Political instincts” are the rule, instead of actually doing what is “right” according to what we know in God’s Word.

Bradley, Beach and Kaatz retain attorney

Shane Hilde: Think big fish: LSU or the Seventh-day Adventist Church.Graham might not have followed procedure with these men, but I don’t know what the procedure is. I’ve read what the process is in the faculty handbook, but I don’t know if that applies to administrative positions which are at will employees. If it does apply to them, then it appears the process was not followed.

Trustees book says, in 6,9,F, that the Trustes may “discontinue” virtually anyone working at the university.

Does that mean to “fire” or to “force their resignation? Seems like it does.
