Comment on The ‘Found’ World of Genesis 1: Is Theistic Evolution a Meaningful Option for Seventh-day Adventists? by Adventist kid.

@Faith:

Faith: What God wrote is truth. We don’t have to make it comply with all the bogus philosophies of the world. I see so many in this controversy who have accepted education as their God and left the true God behind.

Faith: In my opinion, we as a church would be far better off with less worldly “education” and more Scripture.

If you really think that, then you should focus your energy on promoting schools that agree with you rather than trying to force accredited schools to lose their accreditation. Try Hartland or Weimar.

@Shane Hilde:

Shane Hilde: That’s his choice, but is not representative of a Seventh-day Adventist which he keeps trying to present himself as.

Apparently Shane thinks he’s the arbiter of what represents Adventism. I beg to differ.

Bahahahaha. And why should we take seriously that individual again? I surely hope you haven’t been riding your bicycle, drinking milk, eating cinnamon, or taking showers on Saturday.

@Inge Anderson:

Yes, Southwestern sure is wonderful with their Earth History Research Center, aren’t they?

Isn’t it wonderful that among the ranks of the staff of the Center (which is composed overwhelmingly of retired individuals) there are Faculty from numerous institutions? Like say, <a href="http://origins.swau.edu/who/menzmer/default.html"Dr. Menzmer from Pacific Union College?

Go through and look at the staff of the center, more specifically, click through to their “Full C.V.s”. It will quickly become apparent that only a very small number of them are actually staff of SWAU.

Holly Pham: Shouldn’t the church members hear what the matter is all about and decide for themselves whether these men deserve to fired or kept at La Sierra?

Nope, because its an academic matter, and church members have nothing to do with it.

WASC Reviews LSU’s Accreditation

Holly Pham: Does anyone know of any documented examples of a Christian College that has actually been de-certified because they defended their Christian beliefs by firing someone?

Does anyone have any documented examples where WASC (or any other regional accreditation body for that matter) failed to follow through on requests they have made to institutions?

Let’s remember that La Sierra is first, and foremost, an accredited university. The church chose to take this route. As such, the standards that are expected of accredited schools are the primary standards the school should seek to uphold.

Only after the standards expected of Universities are met, do any church standards come into play, and then only to complement those. The same goes for every other church-owned accredited school in the United States, Adventist or not.

As such, the teachers at any of our schools are first employees of an accredited school of higher knowledge, where it is their duty and obligation to pursue knowledge, wherever it may lead, whether or not it is popular in the school’s constituency.

If you don’t like this, feel free to advocate that Adventist schools refuse regional accreditation. But if you’re going to do that, feel free to go ahead and argue that they be shut down, since students are not interested in going to non-accredited institutions.

Faithful Disciple: Erv, everyone here can see you clearly for who you are, an angry progressive old man who hates SDA beliefs does everything in your power to tear them down.

Wrong. That may be your (unchristian) way of looking at him. Some of us see an intellectual giant in comparison to the others on this site (with the exception of Brantley and Jeff Kent).
