Comment on La Sierra University Resignation Saga: Stranger-than-Fiction by Martha Kay.

According to Professor Kent: “Perhaps Sean imbibes on occasion, but the last sip of alcohol I had was more than a decade ago while on a SCUBA expedition with a student. (Somewhat ironically, I was actually a contract employee that summer with the SDA Church–the last such contract in my career–and my student was also an SDA). Perhaps Sean, leading by example, could declare his complete abstinence from alcohol, and how long it’s been since his last drink.

I am surprised that no one has called out Prof Kent on what clearly illustrates his intemperance with alcohol as a church employee. THis no doubts explains why he is so eager to support TE’s and homosexual’s and drinker’s in the church. I wonder if his student was drinking alcohol with him. Shame on the prof.

I’m also disappointed that Sean Pitman has not responded by denouncing alcohol. If its true that Sean truly endorses alcohol consumtion as Professor Kent claimed then he needs to clear the air. Why the silence? We cant condemn alcohol consumption by the La Sierra employees unless we are willing to proclaim our own abstinence.

I for one have never had a drop of alcohol in my entire life. What about you my friend?

THis is the kind of rubbish we get from Answers in Creation:

“Many people look up to Billy Graham, the greatest evangelist of our time. What was his position on creation science? Here’s a quote:

I don’t think that there’s any conflict at all between science today and the Scriptures. I think that we have misinterpreted the Scriptures many times and we’ve tried to make the Scriptures say things they weren’t meant to say, I think that we have made a mistake by thinking the Bible is a scientific book. The Bible is not a book of science. The Bible is a book of Redemption, and of course I accept the Creation story. I believe that God did create the universe. I believe that God created man, and whether it came by an evolutionary process and at a certain point He took this person or being and made him a living soul or not, does not change the fact that God did create man. … whichever way God did it makes no difference as to what man is and man’s relationship to God.“1

He had it right…the focus should be on Jesus, and the salvation message, not on creation science.”

What kind of nonsensical rubbish is this???!!!

My Goal for La Sierra University

Rich Constantinescu: The Babylonians decided the Chaldeans were scientists and the Jews decided Saul and Gamaliel were theologians while the presidents and princes rejected Daniel and the Sanhedrin rejected Jesus and the apostles for being un-credentialed and holding an opinion. Arguments undeserving of recycling!

What kind of nonsensical rubbish is this? The problem we are dealing with is people who put humankind ahead of God. People who put philosophy and science ahead of scripture. People who put their own intelligence ahead of God. We have to submit our reason to a higher power and have the humility to declare on faith “I believe”. THis is the heart of the problem at La Sierra University where professors declare their intellects superior to Gods and instead of pointing to God they point to fossils and rocks and living creatures and make idols of them, as if we can learn more from these created things than from the creator himself.

D.C.Hill: Rather than address each of your statements item by item may I offer a web site that addresses many if not all of the young earth claims. That web site is http://www.answersincreation.org/.

I cannot believe you would suggest we visit Answers in Creation. THis is the Devils own website! THis might as well be La Sierra’s website or Geoscience Research’s website because it promotes old earth theology, which is the antithesis of Adventist theology. Shame on these people! And I had no ideal that Billy Graham supports this ministry. If he believes in an old earth then he is not really believe in the Bible and he is nothing but a big fat LIAR!!! How can these people claim to be Christian?

If there is anyone at La Sierra or Geoscience Research that believes in an earth older than about 6,000 years, they must be fired IMMEDIATELY!!! We must cleanse our church of such infidelity and never let them back in again.

David Read: The crisis in the SDA church today is due in large measure to the neglect of apologetics. It has been assumed that denominational scientists would undertake this task, but they are not suited to it. I am going to do apologetics full time for the rest of my career. It is essentially a forensic endeavor and I have the training and inclination to do it.

If I recall correctly you are a lawyer. Why are you suggesting that denominational scientists are porly suited for apologetics and that you are better trained for it? Regardless of how you answer I say praise God for someone like you who is willing to give up such a lucritive career (law) for pursuing apologetics. You must be truly inspired. Are you planning to teach at LSU? I dont understand why Dr. Pitman won’t do this as well and maybe teach at La Sierra University. If only he had the courage give up his medical income and do like you.
