Comment on LA SIERRA: Four resign after recording emerges by Faithful Disciple.

I think Sean and Shane have been very kind in this whole process. They have only wanted LSU to teach our Church’s beliefs. That has been their call. They have only pointed out how unethical it is to voluntarily agree to be a professor, voluntarily sign a contract that says that the professor must correctly represent the church, and then do the contrary. And they are right. Those who get paid by the church should teach what the church believes. If they won’t, then they should voluntarily go elsewhere. That is called being a quality person. Staying, and working against your employer, contrary to your signed contract, is unethical. That is where we are. It is clear to me that it is the employees of our church that don’t believe our beliefs, and don’t want to believe them, need to go. Nothing unkind, nothing mean, just get with the team that represents your beliefs.

“I asked the meaning of the shaking I had seen, and was shown that it would be caused by the straight testimony called forth by the counsel of the True Witness to the Laodiceans. This will have its effect upon the heart of the receiver, and will lead him to exalt the standard and pour forth the straight truth. Some will not bear this straight testimony. They will rise up against it, and this is what will cause a shaking among God’s people.” – {CET 176.1}

All church members need to heed this statement because it is where we are today.

Adventist Kid, the only people lacking integrity of recent (and glaringly so), is Bradley, Beach, Kaatz, and Darnell. Shane has nothing to gain from this whole matter. He doesn’t work for the church. He has nothing to gain from this, except a headache that Motrin won’t fix. He (and many others) is (are) just tired of you liberals and progressives trashing our church and its beliefs and trying to drag everyone else down with you. ENOUGH! It is time to bring the SDA church back to faithfulness. It is time to finish the work Jesus gave us.

LA SIERRA: Four resign after recording emerges
Adventist Kid, the conservatives are not lurking around every corner in the shadows recording and collecting data to publish. If the Infamous 4 did not want their private discussion to be known publicly, then they should have not spread it around to become public. There are many faithful SDA’s that are tired of the nonsense and are going to finally work to get our church back on track and back to the purpose of providing a positive alternative to this world’s evil.

LA SIERRA: Four resign after recording emerges
Adventist Kid, what is more disingenous and lacking integrity than an professor signing a contract agreeing to support and protect the interests of the SDA church in the classroom and in their lifestyle, and then doing the opposite?

Ron, we are still waiting for that EGW quote that says that we are going to change our Fendamental Beliefs. Have you found it yet?

Thanks Phil! We do need to draw together right now, but not under the banner of error. It is time for the nonsense to stop. None of us are the judges, so we cannot kick anyone out of the church, but we can discern truth from error and LOUDLY AND UNAPOLOGETICLY proclaim truth. I am pretty sure the shaking part will take care of itself. It is our job to study and share the truth with others, dedicate our lives to Jesus, and serve. I believe that conditions will cause the rest to happen automatically. Those who are “culturally” or only half dedicated to the truth of Adventism will run like marathon runners when it is politically incorrect to be an SDA.

Faith, great post, thanks. Let’s not forget that at the time of Jesus’ first advent, there were faithful church members who were studying and waiting for the messiah (Simeon and Anna). And let us also not forget the parable of the 10 virgins where half of the virgins were prepared with oil, but asleep (connected but distracted). They entered into the wedding feast because they had made the necessary prior preparation and could enter the feast when the bridegroom came.

Let’s not suggest that there are not prepared people. God always has a remnant (even if liberals/progressives hate the idea). The vast unprepared multitude (those on the wide road to hell) cannot eclipse the bright shining few (on the narrow upward road). God’s church will win, just as the Bible predicts. I’ve read the end of the Book!

Former Student, you are right that we should guard our words. The Bible requires it and we are accountable for them. That should not be construed as your post seems to infer that we should not stand up against error. We MUST stand up against the evil that is creeping into our church. It could be deadly to our children. We are responsible to lead our children to salvation. Our church set up our educational system to help train our children in the ways of the Bible, and to serve humanity. Unfortunately evil and error has crept into our colleges and universities. As parents, we MUST clean up our educational institutions to protect our children. That might take some truthful, firm, and persuasive language. But it will be honorable and Biblical.

We must not fall into the trap that says to follow the Bible means that we have to be silent and weak!

Holly, I’m sure that LLU university church has people who hate SDA beliefs. Probably every SDA church in the country has someone who hates our beliefs to a greater or lesser degree. That is what the shaking is for, to correct that problem.

What LLU, LSU, and all of the college and university churches have that is disturbing is that they are teaching our young people. These PhD’s who have questioned themselves out of believing our Bible doctrines are dragging impressionable young people with them.

People like Erv and his Adventist Today(sic) crowd would have us all believe that it takes a PhD to understand the Bible, and that the Bible is very fuzzy and open to many interpretations. That allows them to use their intellect to decide what it really means. They can then reshape and discard our beliefs one at a time.

What they don’t seem to remember is that the Bible is written for ALL people and Jesus more than once pointed out that the simple really “got it” while the educated were the ones that were wrong. The Holy Spirit is the expositor of Biblical truth for all of us, not PhD’s.

In order not to be misunderstood, I do need to make a disclaimer. Not all of our professors are bad. We have some stellar minds and great teachers who are loyal to our church and its beliefs. Unfortunately they get are affected by the bad apples in their (our) midst too. Some of the finest Christians I’ve ever known have been faculty members that trained me. Perhaps they should be the one’s that lead us through these hard times.
