Comment on Dr. Geraty Affirms the Literal Creation Week? by Faithful Disciple.
Bob, Central California Conference is a part of the Pacific Union. La Sierra and PUC belong to the Pacific Union, not the individual conferences of the Union. So Ted is correct to suggest that CCC could and should be doing something similar to the Michigan Conference to effect change at LSU. When do you think we might expect action from them? This problem is far from fixed, in fact the fix has barely gotten started. The problem will only be fixed by some faculty leaving LSU and being replaced by loyal SDA faculty who believe in our church and its beliefs. That part of the solution is still future.

Holly Pham:
I know that Jerry Page was and is a faithful SDA and leader as far as supporting our beliefs. Does anyone know if President Cano is similar? I think he is at the Soquel Campmeeting now, so maybe someone attending could ask him?
Holly, you bring up a great point. It is past time to call our elected leaders and ask what they believe in regards to our church’s FB’s. If they say that they have doubts about our beliefs, then we should respectfully replace them. If they are in support of our beliefs, then we should find out why they are silent in this critical time in history and what they are going to do to stand up against the error that is coming out of our colleges and universities. They have a pattern to follow in the Michigan Conference.

Larry says he is a conservative. If he is a conservative, then he would believe that God created the earth in 6 literal 24 hour days and rested on the 7th. That is what the Bible says. He would also believe that Adam and Eve were created by God. God meant them for each other and as a pattern for families here on the earth. He would then say that in this world that is terribly affected by sin that the family and marriage plan is still in effect and does not include two men or two women marrying. If he cannot agree to these basic Bible beliefs, then he is not a conservative as he contends.
Professor Kent can say that Larry is not posting for whatever reason, but it is likely that he is not posting because he cannot agree to my statements above and is really a progressive who rejects some very basic Bible beliefs. That is just my surmising.

Charles, in response to your “what if” scenario, I doubt that liberals would live and let live, or coexist with a fellow biologist who promoted creation.
Liberals are only open minded and tolerant of other ideologies when it is theirs. When an ideology is promoted that contradicts theirs, they suddenly become very intolerant and ugly. Tolerance is a one way door for liberals. They are especially intolerant of Christians who believe the Bible is true and are what the liberals call “fundamentalists.” From the way liberals use that term, it would appear to be the worst thing a person could be.
Do I say this to be unkind? No. It is just from observation. It’s a sad state to be in, but here we are. It won’t be long before it will be very unpopular, and maybe illegal to be a Bible-believing “fundamentalist” Christian in this country.
Just look at the venom that is spewed at those Christians who oppose gay marriage. The same goes for those that promote a short age of the earth on so called “Adventist” websites like Spectrum. That site name is a misnomer.

Holly, that is why the Bible days that the wheat and the rates grow together until the harvest. God separates them. Many of the half-hearted church members will run when the times get tough because they do not have a love of the truth. It will be uncomfortable to be connected to a church that follows God’s true Bible beliefs when the wicked world says do the opposite. The times sure are exciting!

Wayne A. Martin:
I wonder what would have happened if the chairman of the board had quietly called each of the three men involved in this situation into his office, and tallked with them one by one, about their problems, with a redemptive prospective.Would they have seen their error, repented of their misdeeds, and avoided all this bad publicity? These men might still be loyal workers for the university.ASking them to resign immediately put them on the defensive. What we need is not only regulations to protect our worker’s rights, but our leaders, as well as pastors need training in how to meet situations, both in the church and among employees. We need to try to keep our workers in the straight and narrow way, and not look for an excuse to get rid of them.Often we can salvage workers and help them to become productive.
In this case some workers might have been salvaged and a lot of bad publicity avoided.
Wayne, these men are not just employees that were just a little off base who needed a minor course correction. LSU has arrived at the point where they are after DECADES of apostasy. There has been a concerted effort to take LSU to this place. The problem does not just include the biology department, but also includes the religion department and includes more of our fundamental belief on creation. The average church member who has not been around the Southern and Southeastern California Conferences/La Sierra University doesn’t not realize that we are at the brink of a HUGE problem in the church. The two sides cannot coexist any longer and neither side is going to acquiesce to the other.

Holly, I believe Erv is an Emeritus Professor of Anthropology from UCR (University of California-Riverside), I don’t think he is a paid employee of the church, either currently, or in the past. He is a thought leader among the liberal “SDA’s” who want to trash our FB’s. He seems to have a total hate for historic, “traditional” SDA beliefs. His whole push is to advance liberal thought and doctrine wherever possible. He is constantly at war with us “fundamentalists.” What a sad situation to be in. He seems to have some huge hang-up.

Holly, whether anyone has infiltrated our church, I don’t know. I am not a conspiracy theory kind of person. I am not privy to see behind the scenes as God would. All I can says is that we are God’s remnant church, we have Bible-based beliefs, and the likes of professors at LSU in the biology and religion departments, Erv Taylor, Jared Wright, the lib Spectrum crowd, and many others that claim that they are SDA when they are actively against everything SDA and are our greatest opponents. Their actions here and now are enough to convince me what EGW said that former SDA’s will be our worst enemies.

Yes Frank, you have hit the nail squarely on the head. Now does the church administration have the fortitude to get rid of the apostates and replace them with loyal faculty. Sister White saw it and predicted it as you can see in the following quotes. It is as if she was here today watching all of this. ELDERS GRAHAM AND WILSON, PLEASE FINISH THE WORK AND CLEAN UP THIS MESS.
“The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced. The founders of this system would go into the cities, and do a wonderful work. The Sabbath of course, would be lightly regarded, as also the God who created it. Nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. The leaders would teach that virtue is better than vice, but God being removed, they would place their dependence on human power, which, without God, is worthless. Their foundation would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure. Who has authority to begin such a movement? We have our Bibles. We have our experience, attested to by the miraculous working of the Holy Spirit. We have a truth that admits of no compromise. Shall we not repudiate everything that is not in harmony with this truth?” Ellen G. White, Selected Messages, vol. 1, pages 204, 205.
“The days are fast approaching when there will be great perplexity and confusion. Satan, clothed in angel robes, will deceive, if possible, the very elect. There will be gods many and lords many. Every wind of doctrine will be blowing. Those who have rendered supreme homage to “science falsely so called” will not be the leaders then. Those who have trusted to intellect, genius, or talent will not then stand at the head of rank and file. They did not keep pace with the light. Those who have proved themselves unfaithful will not then be entrusted with the flock. In the last solemn work few great men will be engaged. They are self-sufficient, independent of God, and He cannot use them. The Lord has faithful servants, who in the shaking, testing time will be disclosed to view. There are precious ones now hidden who have not bowed the knee to Baal. They have not had the light which has been shining in a concentrated blaze upon you. But it may be under a rough and uninviting exterior the pure brightness of a genuine Christian character will be revealed. In the day time we look toward heaven but do not see the stars. They are there, fixed in the firmament, but the eye cannot distinguish them. In the night we behold their genuine luster.”
