Why does EducateTruth.com exist?
Because the university has ignored the allegations for over a decade despite strong evidence from student testimony and LSU course material.
What is EducateTruth.com’s goal?
To inform Seventh-day Adventists how the theory of evolution is being taught at La Sierra University. We are also seeking full disclosure from LSU, so that parents and students can make educated choices about what kind of education they receive. You can participate by signing our appeal to our Seventh-day Adventist leadership.
Who started EducateTruth.com?
Shane Hilde started the site June 2, 2009.
Is EducateTruth.com officially endorsed by the Seventh-day Adventist Church?
No. However, the majority of church leaders we have spoken with are in support of what we are asking from LSU, and strongly disapprove of what LSU has been allowing in their biology department.
Was LaSierraUniversity.net started by Shane Hilde?
No. Shane Hilde did not own or start LaSierraUniversity.net. A gentleman by the name of Bryant first created and started the site. The site was then closed down by Adventist Review due to “copyright issues” regarding an article by Cliff Goldstein and legal action taken by La Sierra University for the domain name.
How is La Sierra University teaching the theory of evolution?
There are four biology professors who teach that the theory of evolution is the best explanation for the variety of life we have today. You can read their material here.
Has EducateTruth.com attempted to communicate with La Sierra University privately?
Yes. President Wisbey replied in a letter dated August 27, 2009. However, he did not address any of the issues and concerns brought up in previous letters addressed to him, with the exception of granting our request for a meeting November 2, 2009.
Is EducateTruth.com trying to get LSU professors fired?
No. We have not encouraged anyone in leadership to fire them, nor have we written anything asking that these professors be fired. We recognize many in the church feel this should happen, but at this point it is our intention to educate the church membership about this controversy.
What has been La Sierra University’s reaction to the allegations?
President Wisbey denied that atheistic evolution was being taught. He has denied nothing else publicly. We have heard LSU will offer a seminar class for biology students that will include theology and science professors. This issue will also be discussed by the LSU Board of Trustees on November 12, 2009, according to President Wisbey.
